Cliff Diving at Admiralty House Park, Bermuda

Flip through the pages of a Bermudian guide book and you'll learn that you need to do two things; snorkel, cliff dive, and okay three things, drink a Rum Swizzle.
We found the perfect spot to do two out of the three of those.

I'm getting ahead of myself, let's backtrack a bit.
Though the island is only a two hour time difference from back home, we kept rolling over in the middle of the night to find the other lying awake as well.
"What should we do today?", I whispered to Hans well before the sun came up.
"Cliff diving", it came out without hesitation, and just like that it was on the books.

Huge travel tip about to be dropped on you; if you're relying on your phone to serve as your map, download the map so you can use it when you are offline. This opens up the possibilities to search restaurants, scope out the land, and even give you directions. In this tutorial I detail exactly how to make your travels much easier, and get your map to work offline! Our phones stayed locked in airplane mode the entire trip, meaning we could connect to WiFi but weren't slapped with ridiculous roaming fees.
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachThe bus ride from St. George's to Hamilton (the central hub of the island) is a mere thirty minutes, but seems to fly by as you zip along the coast, talk with your friendly local neighbor, and plan places that you want to come back to along the journey. Check out the full Bermudian bus schedule, and useful info here.

Soaking in the culture, the white washed roofs, stopping now and again to chat up the locals, and get filled in on the hidden gems of the island. Have I mentioned that the locals are warm, inviting, gregarious, and downright helpful?

Hospitality is above and beyond here.
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachWe strolled through town, noshing on our baked goods, with wide eyes and minds racing to memorize every detail in this moment.

shorts, Floral one piece (sold out, I have a feeling you'll like this one!) , Military green backpack, Sunnies, Swatch watch, Sandals of choice
Outfit on repeat this vacation; a floral one piece, my favorite high waisted denim, and my trustee backpack. Side note/Public Service Announcement: I was totally inspired to rock these after seeing my friend Corrie's post, check out her blog here!
Every time I begin the unloading process of my bag, there is always some exclamation about just how much it can hold. It is quite possibly, the clown car of backpacks!
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachThe sun baked the pavement as we tucked into shaded spots amongst the collage of pastel buildings, all clad with charming island details, and white roofs to purify the rain water.

A ten minute ride on the number 4 bus, and we were right on Spanish Point Road.

Upon entering the park there is no visible beach, don't fret though, take the stairs on your right down the hill, where you'll find a clearing with a picnic table. Just below you is cave great for storing your belongings, and a cozy beach with flat rocks to stretch out on. If you're looking to cliff jump right away, walk past the picnic table veering to the right of the adjacent clearing, and you'll see what looks like a hidden path. You may even think to yourself, "no way can this be the path". Oh yeah, that's how you know you've found it.
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachWe raced up the cliff, squeezing through the brush, and ducking under emerald palms.
Jumping into the salty sea below is adrenaline provoking, refreshing, and a downright good time. The way back up however is not for the faint of heart.
My advice; wear some form of water shoes (they make cute ones nowadays), and have a friend toss down your mask and snorkel once you've dived in, making the swim to shore a much more scenic one.
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachDo you touch the bottom? Nope. Is it scary? Meh, sort of. Is it worth it, and does it leave you wanting to race up to do it again? Absolutely!
Alex Good-Beautyosaurus Lex-Bermuda-Cliff Diving-Admiralty House Park-Spanish Road-Travel-Vacation-BeachWe spent the afternoon chasing squid and parrot fish, searching for more sea turtles, mulling and wading in the shallow beach, and dreaming up the rest of the weeks adventures.
