Between the Covers: 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help that Actually Works

Hello There!
I love reading.

My only problem is that I'm such a fast reader, that I seem to whiz through novels without ever getting around to mentioning them. Hence my new series Between the Covers, a slightly provocative title, until you discover it's just my way of saying "Book Club". Let's dive in, shall we?

Packing for any vacation means loading up my Kindle with loads of reading material. On a recent vacation my book of choice was 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help that Actually Works by Dan Harris. Perched poolside in my lounge chair, I managed to read for several hours before even noticing that the time had flown by. This book takes you through Harris' journey of losing himself in his work, mocking spirituality, and then coming full circle as a committed, practicing meditator. He's the sort of character who is a downright ass, but you somehow end up loving his tone, enjoying his company, and even find yourself rooting for him. It's lighthearted, intriguing, and will have you practicing some of your own mindfulness. The 10% happier bit; this is how Harris explains what meditation has done for him, and a simple explanation when bombarded with questions like, "yeah, but does it work?".

Is this your guide to meditation? Most likely not. However, it is a great place to dip your toes in, and learn more about meditation through the eyes, and journey, as told by someone else. Scoop this up if you're in need of some motivation, a luring story to sink in to, or an insight into meditation!

What are you currently reading? Is it anything that I need to be picking up too?
