My Life isn't Always Instagram-Worthy

“My Instagram sucks”, it came out like word vomit as my fingers continued to scroll through the highlight real that social media has come to be. I’m imaginative, creative, and appreciate beautiful things, I’ve always been this way, but it is so easy to see these filters, perfect flat lays, breathtaking destinations, and think “why doesn’t my life look like that?” I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to look like that. When we set our lives up for perfection instead of for the real-deal, it always seems like we fall short. You mean far more to me than curated photos in a sea of squares!

This past weekend the mister and I were visiting some family in Nashville, my camera was charged, loaded with two SD cards, and I had a suitcase packed for a long weekend dressing, especially cute. The reality; it rained the entire time, and my poor husband got food poisoning on the very first day. Of the few of photos that I managed to take, these are the handful worth sharing. It was windy, raining, and the mister was about to get sick behind that beautiful mural; not so glamorous, but damn, it’s a hell of a story!

Needless to say, we had a great weekend, that was the complete opposite of my expectations, and sometimes that's the best way to appreciate the authentic, grittiness that is life. Just because I didn’t share every detail of our trip, capture every latte, or pose by a rustic building, it doesn’t mean that it can’t live as a beautiful memory!
