Why I Love Vlogs

Hello There!

I just started vlogging, shameless plug.

After over a year of watching vlogs and feeling as though I was becoming besties with all of the big vloggers, I did that thing where you snap in front of your face and say "are you paying attention?". I wasn't the only one watching and enjoying, and therefore I decided to start vlogging. Nearly a month ago I clenched my eyes shut, held my breath and hit publish on my very first vlog.

The feedback, oh the feedback. Never before have I felt so much gratitude for the internet and the community that I am building. Of the top comments; "your voice is so calming", "I wish we lived closer so we could hang out", "watching these feels like hanging out with a friend". Believe me, I wish we all lived closer so we could hang out. How fun would that be?! (Can you imagine how many pizzas we would have to order!)

Then it hit me why I love vlogs, and why I fall down the YouTube rabbit hole semi-regularly, watching them. Vlogs don't offer a veil. You see me without makeup, bra-less and more often than not, cleaning my home. Not nearly as glamorous as my sit down videos, but a hell of a lot more relatable. Social media has led us to put people on pedestals. Shiny new shoes, lust worthy vacations, champagne cheers at the spa, brunch (I'm seriously convinced people are only eating brunch these days) and precious pets with their dapper, obediently still poses for the camera.

Followers are a number, filters are a facade and the highlight reel that is your Instagram, does not define you. Your heart warming comments and the positivity that you are putting out into the world are contagious and those are the things that matter the most to me. A quote that has always stuck with me is; "it is easy to be heavy: hard to be light". Going out into the world like a ray of sunshine each day is difficult. It's simple but it isn't easy.

Each day, I choose to be happy and you all help in that. If only you could see my face when replying to your comments and tweeting with you, I must look like a big grinning fool! As lucky as I am to have found something that I love, I want to know what you're passionate about. Tell me in the comments below and if you'd like to see the makeup-less, bra-less and cleaning monster that I was talking about earlier, have a peek at my vlogs!
