The Great Getaway

Hello there!

This past weekend the mister and I went on a rather spontaneous weekend getaway to Michigan. His family were attending a regatta and last minute we decided to tag along and celebrate the end of summer and the transition into autumn.

We managed to spend some quality time with the family and also sneak in a few afternoons to explore (and eat plenty of ice cream) on our own. Though I live just on the other side of the lake, it was a magical weekend filled with plenty of sunshine and lighthearted adventures.

The photos above are all in chronological order, so writing this post brings back warm and happy thoughts. We took in the Sleeping Bear Dunes and did a bit of climbing, and when I say a bit I mean it was quite the trek. At the tops of the dunes you could see for miles, Lake Michigan on one side and endless rows of White Pines on the other. Hans and I popped off into a teeny town for lunch, ice cream and a wicked game of checkers. Although I was ├╝ber confident, I lost the checkers game even though Hans said he had wished that he would've let me win. Whatta guy!

A stroll down the beach and out onto the breaker, as well as a stop into a local brewery was in order. On our six hour car ride home we made a pitstop in Pentwater, a town that I spent many summers at as a youngin'. Very little has changed there and that makes it all the more sentimental to me.

I hope you enjoy a few photos from my little vacation, and are having a lovely day!
