Top Five Fashion: Hairstyles

The holidays is one of those times of the year that I bust out all of my "fancy" hairstyles. I like to try everything under the sun to do with my hair.

Hair has never been my forte, I could do my makeup and walk out of the door with air dried hair, eek. This will hopefully give you some inspiration as it did for me, to take a few extra minutes to give maximum fabulousness to your hair.

My top five trends...

Left to right, top to bottom.

Retro waves and shiny locks. Um, hello perfect holiday hair. Perfect anytime hair. Achieve this by curling your hair all the same way, either away from your face or towards, pinning up the front sections. Let the curls cool, take the pins out and brush through your hair using a boar bristle brush. Finish with some finishing spray or a hair oil. I have been loving the Agave hair oil at the moment, that you can use on wet or dry hair.

Deep side part. Right out of the shower part your at an angle from the tail of your eyebrow to wear a center part would fall on you. Doing this on wet hair will help you look natural and not like some lion cub who has been cleaned by his mother.

Braids. Braids. Braids. Should I say that again? Ok, fine braids. Recreate this amazing look by doing a side part, then putting your hair into low pigtails with a clear elastic rubber band. Braid those sections, tie off with a clear elastic then pin up onto your head in the same place a headband would go on you. For a modern touch use a fishtail braid. Oh la la.

Red hair. Alright, alright, I may be a bit biased on this because I am currently a redhead. Shoot. However, I am so obsessed with red hair and hoping that my hair follicles get tricked into thinking they are naturally supposed to produce red hair, then I magically turn into a true ginger. A girl can hope.

Sleek, high pony. This may be an extreme version of this look, and a little less achievable, but the concept of it is what I am drooling over. Flip your head upside down, brush hair all to your crown and secure with a clear elastic. Take out a two inch piece of hair from the pony tail, and wrap around the base and simply pin the ends inside of the trunk of the ponytail. For extra staying power, spray your bobby pins with hair spray and let them dry before putting them in place. Finish with hairspray and a finishing spray for that sleek look.

What hairstyles are guys enjoying at the moment? Have you been rocking any of these looks?

  1. My hair's to short to do some of those at the moment. :( I used to rock that high ponytail all the time though. I can't wait for my hair to grow out so I can do that again! :D
