My New Years Non-Resolution

I have mentioned in the past that I am not particularly one to come up with New Years Resolutions. Why wait for a new year when you get a new day and a new chance every 24 hours?

The thing about resolutions is how big of a dark and scary cloud they can be over you. So I encourage you to not make goals this year but instead make conscious lifestyle changes.

Goals are amazing things to have, but with goals they have an end. Lose ten pounds, run a marathon, get into college, eat healthy. All of these things have an end point where you have achieved that goal. Brilliant feeling to achieve a goal, however I want something more. Don't add pressure to your already busy life, take it a day at a time and use each day to better yourself.

I'm going to change my life this year and not just finish a task that I set for myself, and feel endless pressure to accomplish. Here are the steps I am going to take to make me a better person and not just check off a goal.

-Move more, park further from the store, skip the elevator, a brisk walk during your lunch break, try doing a quick yoga routine in the morning to get your body moving and working properly.

-You're beautiful, stop getting in your own way and start believing it.

-Smile! Right now. Do it! When you smile, chemicals are released to your brain telling it that you are happy! So smile more often and you will feel happier.

-Give thanks more. I'm writing this post on my new computer, in a heated flat, with my dog at my feet. I have so much to be thankful for!

-Laugh. Louder and with no control! Why hold back one of the greatest emotions?

-Love bigger. Whether that means your significant other, your family, your friends or all of the little beauties that this world has to offer. Do not be afraid to love and be loved.

-Be Fearless. I do not want to say it but we all know that word that means "You Only Live Once", side note: My mom called it "fro-yo" the other day, how adorable. In all honesty you will never get this second back, this minute, this hour, this day back. It is gone from you, do with it something that you have always wanted to do and don't wait for that something to land in your lap. Chase whatever it is that you want.

What do you think about putting an end to resolutions? Is a lifestyle change what you need instead of a destination?

I wish you all the most fabulous 2014, and the best year you have ever had to date!

Best!
